On October 3, 1999 Mark Henderson began serving as pulpit minister. The elders wanted him to serve as Chief of Staff in addition to preaching, as Ronnie White had done. He accepted this responsibility, which involved appointing, overseeing and dismissing the ministry staff, but he requested that the title be changed to "Senior Minister". "Building on the foundation White had established," he wanted to promote "concrete expressions of a non-sectarian view of the body of Christ" by seeking ways to co-operate with denominations.*
